The original auction blurb said: ".30 caliber, 30 1/2" brass lined octagon barrel. This rifle is not maker marked and features a significant amount of intricate brass inlay and wonderful relief floral carving in its stock. The breech loading mechanism is interesting with the barrel sliding forward then pivoting upward being hinged somewhere near the end of its full length forend. The barrel slides by means of a brass tipped steel bar affixed perpendicular to the barrel and protruding from the bottom of the stock ahead of fancy finger loop trigger guard. The barrel which is swamped at both breech and muzzle retains a pleasing gray brown patina with some scattered light surface oxidation present. The iron trigger plate which houses adjustable double set triggers bears the same mellow patina. The walnut stock is checkered at wrist and forend and has a nice large cheekrest. The stock is adorned with fancy pierced brass furniture which all bears a pleasing uncleaned patina. The right side of the buttstock shows wonderfully executed deep relief floral carving as does opposite side to front and rear of cheekrest. The condition of the stock is excellent with about 90 - 95% original finish remaining. The rifle features a simple low profile blade front sight and open rear with interesting magnifying peep sight. A correct and possibly original crank is included with the rifle. A very fine and very handsome bellows rifle."
