Bowkett early sidelever pump up air pistol

With thanks to Louis.

John Bowkett said of this pistol:

It was one of the items taken by the police for forensic testing I think so must be late 1970's when I was in the building trade. The valving is the same as I covered with one of the patents. It is quite crude in some areas such as the trigger and shows I was teaching myself how to use a 100 year old Seneca Falls lathe I was given. It occupied an entire garden shed which rocked from side to side whenever I started it up. It still functions after all this time and works very well indeed. It is a sidelever using a .20" Sheridan barrel. I have been shooting it on 4 pumps but even at six pumping is still easy.

Louis adds:

I took this little jewel to my shooting grounds last weekend. It is really nice to shoot, with a crisp trigger, and a healthy dose of power.
Especially the shape of the stock stands out to me.
