Rare Cadet Major with 4 piece stock.

Barry Roberts contacted me recently with a rare early production BSA Cadet Major with a spliced stock similar to the Airsporter Mk1 and Mk2, It is not the first time I have come across these spliced stocks, however they are very uncommon.

Cadet Major, serial number C 16123, was produced between Sept 1947 and June 1949, and has a four piece stock (if you include the strengthening fillet in the pistol grip).This would indictate that the action is held into the stock with the two front screws, and the rear trigger guard screw only. Here are a few photographs of this rare variation .
