Crosman Model-V300

With thanks to Bob Holtz, who worked at Crosman from February 1956 to January 1995.

He says:

Very few today would remember that the first V-300 prototype was a break barrel single shot .177 caliber pellet gun.

Being struck in the elbow with a pellet from it is something you don’t ever forget. Working at my bench, the design engineer came to talk to me and he had the prototype in his hands with the barrel open. He didn’t realize it was loaded and closing the barrel the gun discharged due to a malfunction. That incident may have resulted in the design being changed to a lever cocking BB gun replicating the popular Colt Woodsman.

Difficult to cock and a terrible trigger pull contributed to its short life. Offered for only about one year, there may not be that many available to the collectors but they should be in decent condition.
