Crosman V-350 Military trainer
With thanks to Bob Holtz, who was a Crosman engineer between 1956 and 1995.
He says:
The Quackenbush Model 1 shown below once belonged to Crosman model maker Bob Hanvey and was gifted to me when he retired. Although missing both front and rear sights, it is in fine working condition. The barrel cocking feature of the Quackenbush was the inspiration for the Crosman model V-350.The first B & W photo below, from D. T. Fletcher Crosman Collection, shows Bob in the foreground standing at the horizontal mill.Variations of the V-350 are the models 3500, M1 and V-350M, all of which Bob also worked on.I don’t recall how many V-350M were assembled in the model shop for the military “Quick Kill” trial but I do recall Bob knurling the muzzle grips. The last B & W photo below is taken from an April 1968 Shooting Times magazine article by Lt. Col. Bill Brophy (Ret) titled Army’s "Quick Kill” & Daisy's "Quick Skill”. Daisy’s entry was selected over the Crosman V-350M.
