EM-GE Zenit M Repeater Air Pistol - Early model (wood grips).
This pistol sold on eGun in March 2015 for 1200 euros (UK£900 approx.). Note that the box seems to be a modified 'standard' Zenit box with an 'M' in a circle added, whereas the box pictured above actually has an image of the repeater version embossed in gold:
Recreating an EM-GE Zenit M Repeater Air Pistol magazine
With thanks to John Griffiths, author of the Encyclopedia of Spring Air Pistols. He says:
[My] rare bakelite version of the EM-GE Zenit M... came near mint, but had a small crack in the magazine. A few years later when using the gun the crack spread and the magazine fell into three pieces. The weak spots are where the return spring holes are located in the magazine head, and the aged brittle monkey metal around the holes cannot take any stress. I reattached the pieces, using the strongest epoxy two-part glue I could find, and also reinforcing the spring holes themselves with brass liners. It worked OK for a while and then fell apart. So I made up my mind to make a replacement, but in steel so that it would never break. This meant a lot of filing and fettling to get it to function smoothly:
As I wanted the magazine to look as close to the original as possible, once I had shaped it I then electro-etched it with the correct markings:
Finally I fitted the closure piece and blued the whole thing:
This is it fitted to the gun. It now looks the part and works perfectly. Any jammed pellets just get chopped in half, rather than the magazine falling apart.
Why EM-GE didn't have the foresight to see that monkey metal would just not stand up to the job over time I do not know.
Here are the dimensions I was working to. I hope they will be of some help:
