Fionda model-63 repeater CO2 rifle (stripdown)

With thanks to fullmetaljacket on the airgunbbs.com forum.

Lawrie A said on the BBS thread: "The Fionda looks as if it is a mix of the Armigas type airgun and the Tyrol, The Armigas feeds the lead balls directly to the breech as does the Fionda, whereas the Tyrol has a shuttle system and double action trigger which is more efficient, because it doesn't use a blow back system to recock it and so uses less gas in the process, this also equates to more power, I have a very nice Tyrol which I think is the Rolls Royce of this type of gun, on my bucket list would be a Tyrol military type.

There are a couple of other makers of this type of gun, the Venturi Golondrina Co-matic, and Zamas, all look very similar cosmetically, some of the parts look as if they are interchangeable with other makes, but I have a few of this type of air gun that look from the same manufacturer and some of the parts are not interchangeable, ie. longer reservoirs and barrels, as you may gather from this, these are among my favourite air guns, many of this type of air gun were used as fairground guns, they have very simple mechanics and are very easy to work on and reseal."

Action disassembled:

Here is a cutaway of an example found online that shows the inner workings:

Action front showing the spring loaded detent that stops the BBs rolling out of the barrel:

Action showing the sear engaged in the hammer groove:

Muzzle showing the rifled 4.5mm barrel, presumably this was intended for lead BBs:

Safety in the stock:

It's a conventional hammer valve however the trigger is a double action that cocks then releases the hammer.
There is no bolt that seals the action, it's just the next BB in line that more or less blocks the breech.
The hammer spring tension can be adjusted by rotating the rear cap on the action, there is one white and one red mark.
If I understood correctly, the white mark is for filling because otherwise the hammer would keep the valve open.

Some detail of the modification I made:

Set screw keeping it in place, note the fill nipple to run it as a pneumatic:

With thanks to Jack. He posted on the GTA some pics he found on the internet and of an incomplete rifle he owns, which he photographed disassembled.
