Hammerli Junior co2 rifle

I purchased a Hammerli Junior gun from Holts months ago as it needed a good home, but it came with no sights fitted.  It's got three holes to fit a standard rear sight and a rail for a diopter.  Having done a bit of research it would have been a flip up diopter so that it could be moved out of the way to load a new bulb.

At the moment it's got a red dot on it but I'm looking to find either the little front and rear sight or preferably the diopter sights but I'm have no luck at all tracking them down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...............dom

Dom it's just possible, though unlikely, that vintage gallery member @markd bought a box of spares when he acquired a huge job lot of Hammerli rifles and pistols some years ago.

In any case he may just know of where Hammerli spares can be found.

If you're lucky, he'll post on this thread (and if he doesn't, I'll nudge him).

i found this post and the pictures are very good

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/americanvintageairguns/hammerli-junior-co2-rifle-t7649.html?

that is a great looking rifle and that is the good news

if i were looking for those sights in the states i would give myself very little chance

and even if you were to find those sights they are going to be pricey because they are rare

but this hobby isn't cheap anyway

good luck and stay safe

Hi Mike,

I think you may be right (but I hope you're wrong) about the scarcity and cost of replacement originals, so I'm also looking to see if I can get any other ones to fit which will probably be a long shot as well.  It would be such a shame if I can't find any at a reasonable cost.

I think it is a fab looking gun, shoots like a dream and has a really great trigger.  The seals are all sound and it holds gas, though Flattrajectory on the airgun forum has serviced a few I think...........dom

Hi Dom

Nice find, firstly need to establish the type of front sight that is missing from your Junior. Can you put up a picture of  the muzzle. I am pretty sure I don't have a flip up diopter, I may have the rear sight that locates in the 3 pre drilled holes. I will have a visit to the loft and garage and see what I have in the boxes. Just for interest I have seen 3 models of the Junior. Two are in the link provided by Mike, they are my Juniors which I still have.

Atb, Mark

Evening Mark,

Thank you for your reply, I'll take a pic of the end of the barrel in the morning.  I'm pretty certain though that it has a dovetail on the end.   Take it easy.............dom

ps. Loved reading about the unboxing of all the bits and pieces on BBS, it must have been like Christamas.

well if the barrel has a dovetail you could go with a lot of front globes

Feinwerkbau for 150 or 300, Diana 75 or even a new 350 or a Anschutz could work measure it up have many too look at

the rear sight could be a easy as a Anschutz off a like the ones used on the 54 or a a model 100 off a Diana and they make rear iris extenders

https://www.intershoot.co.uk/acatalog/Gehmann-Slim-Glare-Tube---Sight-Extender-556-50-300.html

i've seen something else but can't now

so fitting a globe sight and rear diopter is one thing that could get done

find a factory diopter and globe sight might be impossible seeing that the rifle is at least 50 years old but something that fits, i don't see a problem

you can find all sorts of things cheap on Egun the auction site in Germany

gets some measurement listed front and back and i can measure what i own, i have many diopter and globe sight on hand to measure

Morning Mark,

The front has a dovetail that is 8.07mm across and the rear one is 10.63 across.  Take it easy...........dom

Hi Dom

Unfortunately I don't have a front or rear sight. I have a few pistol sights for Hammerli but nothing for the Junior or Match rifles. As has been mentioned above you should be able to find a  pair of sights that will fit the dovetail on the front and the rear diopter rail. The rear sight on the Hammerli Model 4xxx series spring rifles will fit the 3 pre drilled holes in the receiver.

Morning Mark,

Thank you for taking the time to look, much appreciated.  I did find a site called Ant supplies that sells front and rear diopter sights, and the info about the model 4xxx will hopefully help.  Anyhow it's on the back burner for a while as I've got spares bits and seals for a Haenel 303 turning up next week and rebuilding and resealing a 300s (with a sporter stock).  I'll pop pics up when it's done as I've never seen an FWB like it...........dom
