Hi all , im in the process of buying yet another vintage air rifle and need some help to identify it . I havent received it yet so no pics at the moment but what i can tell you from the pics ive seen is that it is identical to a pre war Diana mod 27 (quarter stock model ) but has no markings and is in .22 cal .

A bit vague i know without pics and i will post some when i receive the gun but im wondering if anyone may have any info at all . Thanks

David

Hi David

Probably an unbadged Diana made for export. The early model 27 was definitely made in .22. The Japanese look-alike copies I know of were all marked with makers/model stamps.

Hi and thanks for your reply , much appreciated . Do you know what sort of year roughly it was manufactured ?  I have a Diana Mod 27 Pre war in 177 dated Nov 1928 that is running at a healthy 6.5 ftlbs, have you any idea what the .22 version power output would likely to have been ?

Not really, David. Probably late '20s or very early 1930s. No idea on power. Probably 7 or 8 ft/lbs or thereabouts.

Hi all , an update on the rifle . Ive now received it and its shooting at a healthy 8 ftlb . Not got round to taking any pictures yet but its identical to my 1928 Diana Mod 27 so im pretty confident it is a Diana Mod 27 in .22 cal .

It has no markings on it other that a date stamp that i've found in the breach area on the barrel which states 5/29 so i presume its from May 1929 . Another interesting / curious feature that i've found is that the barrel hasn't been crowned at all .

It makes me wonder if its a rare one that slipped through the quality control without being stamped or crowned ?  Question is do i leave as it is or do i get it crowned ?  Im inclined to leave it as it is and always has been
