Reproduction Girardoni rifle shooting demonstration (video)
Rick Rehm and Rich Dudek shoot Ernie Cowen and Rick Keller's Girandoni.
With thanks to Mark.
He says:
When I bought this gun the auction house would not ship it. Rich, over at Airgun Revisions picked it up for me. He invited Rick out and they shot the gun and had done some neat trick shots with it before sending it off to me.
The logistics of getting this gun, the painting Beeman had commissioned and the Board that was shot by Ernie Cowen and Phil Schreier from the NRA was a great collaboration among fellow collectors. Don R. Jody S. Rich D., and others I'm great-full for their help. Larry H was also extremely helpful in getting me some information from another Girandoni I wanted as well.
The video Rich and Rick did, has some obvious errors in both history and the guns operation but it's still kinda neat seeing how well this rifle really does shoot.
The big white target they shot that day is also now with the rifle and will stay with it as another part of the guns history.
And lastly to Rick Keller who was willing to answer any questions I had about the gun....Only original type tooling was used in its production was one of many things I learned from him.
A huge thank you to all that helped with this one!
Later he added:
There are obviously a few historical and the guns functional inaccuracies.. but it's neat seeing them shoot it out to 100 yards.
The tank they were using was a perfect copy, including leather and horn seals/gasket.
I have shot this and it had reached a speed of 598
