Hämmerli Junior Air Rifle serial no. 3025
With thanks to Mark D.
Mark says: "The Hammerli Junior Mod 471 CO2 .177 Match Rifle. ( 1962 - 1969 )
Junior is a bit of a misnomer in the context of size, as these are a full size rifle, but without the bulk and weight of the normal 10m Hammerli Match rifles. The weight is typically around 2.8 – 3.0kg
Serial nr 3025
The front sight is dovetailed on, rather that the push fit of the earlier model.
The barrel is also crowned, and counter sunk like the pistols, rather than the simple crown on the earlier rifles.
The receiver is taped with 3 holes so that the rear sight can be moved slightly back and forth. The rear of the cylinder is also fitted with a rail, so that a diopter sight can be fitted.
My reckoning is that this rifle dates around 1965 making it 55 years old.
The Junior uses standard 12grm CO2 bulbs. The action uses the tried and tested pop up loading port, activated on the rifles using the front trigger which also cocks the action.
The stock is nicely figured and fitted with the standard Bakelite butt pad, which is not cracked or chipped. The stock has numerous scratches and marks caused by improper storage. The cylinder and barrel have speckling, which has not pitted the bluing."
