Haviland & Gunn take-down parlor air rifle ('brown' model) 

These guns were also sold as the 'Alpine' and the 'Hurricane'.

The gun is not marked "Alpine".  I have never seen one of these marked Haviland & Gunn or "Alpine" or any marking other then the patent date [May 28, 78]. There are some variations of the parlor guns.   One model has a wire stock and trigger guard and the frame is smaller. This model is pictured on the cover of [WHB] Smith's Airgun book. The gun pictured [here] has a cast iron stock, cast trigger guard. [They came] in two different colors. I have also seen them with 1 or 2 locking lugs on the barrel.
