Homemade multi-pump pneumatic pistol
With thanks to Eberhard for the heads up.
Solntsev Vladimir says:
It fires steel balls, the barrel is smooth with a brass insert. I haven't measured the speed. It penetrates the pine board by about the diameter, if you pump it around 12-15 times.
The principle of operation is roughly as follows.
When the lever is pressed down with the thumb of the right hand onto the lever (shown in green),
the lever pushes the locking valve forward, which is fixed in the forward position by the rod.
At the same time, the pump rod is released and the handle of the latter extends about 10 mm from the handle.
You pump as much as you wish while holding the green lever.
On the final pump, you release the lever and the pump is locked in the closed position.
When the trigger is pressed, the lever pulls the rod out of the groove of the trigger valve and,
under air pressure, it is pushed back against the diaphragm.
The sound produced is much sharper and louder than that of the MP-651K.Stable hitting into a matchbox.
Interestingly, when making 5 and 10 pumps, there is no need to change the aim point.
That is, the trajectory at 9 m practically remains unchanged.
I made everything myself. Machining tools, a drill press, and a bench lathe.
No prototypes.
Everything from scratch. In the accumulation chamber, there is a diaphragm. Made from rubber about 1.2 mm thick.
It is clamped at the outer diameter in the housing, and has a hole in the centre, also clamped between two parts.
Elastic. The breech closing mechanism is not sealed.
The hole is made with a drill, and the rotating cylinder was made with a press fit and finished by hand.
Now, if a blank shot is fired from a single pump with the cylinder turned to the loading position and then after 2-3 seconds turned to the firing position, gas can be heard escaping.
That is, the connection is sufficiently tight and leaks can be disregarded.
I did not calculate the volume of the accumulator chamber.
I made it with a margin. Currently, there is a sleeve inside that reduces the volume (it is not shown in the drawing). The target is indeed a swallowtail.
Moreover, it was made without the use of machine tools, using only files (it turned out quite well).
Moreover, necessary milling work was done on a welding machine!!!
