US spring rifles made from patents

Markham - The Chicago Air Rifle patent model (copy) 

First patent of the Markham 'Chicago'.

He says:

This is a copy of the Markham patent model that is in the Daisy Museum.

Joe Murfin was kind enough to remove the gun from the show case to allow me to take photos and measurements.

I did use walnut just because I like the look. 

He adds:

The main spring was an extension spring.  The production gun has a compression spring.

Brass piston in a brass air chamber tube. I did not take apart the gun in the Daisy Museum but all the Markham Chicago guns just had a metal to metal fit, no seal. 

The production Chicago was an improvement and would have been easier to produce with the compression spring.

This was made from the Sept. 1, 1891 patent by Ireland In Greene NY.  No known examples.  Yes the gun looks like a club.  I would love to find one of these.

Joslin 'Michigan' spring airgun from patent

Patented by Charles Joslin in 1890.

He says:

This is a gun patented by Charles Joslin in Northville MI.  

I had this gun for several years and just called it a Joslin.  A fellow collector found {the following] ad so now it is a Michigan Air Rifle by Joslin.  

Joslin, Stanley and two other men formed a partnership to manufacture the "Stanley Air Rifle".   They were the beginnings of the Globe Air Rifle Co.
