Quackenbush Model-5 Air Rifle - With folding peep sight.

 

With thanks to Sean Campbell, imaging manager of the Buffalo Bill Centre of the West in Cody, Wyoming, for permission to post these pics of a gun held in the Cody Firearms Museum. The blurb accompanying this gun follows.

Accession Number: 1993.8.53

Date : 1884-1913

Dimensions: L: 34.75 in, Barrel length: 22 in, H: 7 in

Remarks: Has small patch box on right side of stock, which contains one extra leather gasket and one small metal piece.

With thanks to Craig for these pics. Note the receipt appears to be signed for H M Quackenbush (initialled by the employee) and says "Comb. Air Gun Brown" (ie. combination rifle).

Early Quackenbush Model-5s (X4)

He said on the American Vintage Airguns forum:

The first two rifles are very early.   Serial #4 has a manual extractor, very well made.  I am sure it was factory made.   The next is also very early, serial #69.   The last two are a consecutive serial number pair.  Thanks to a couple members of this forum I was able to obtain and repair them.
