Light refurbishment of a Manuarms Rifle

This little Manu Arms rifle made a nice change, to the best of my recollection I had not seen one before other than in pictures. Another local discovery for our own HWVixen I was extremely happy to recieve this one, thanks again Chris 😎👍

All it really required was a little love in the form of a strip and clean, replacement seals, fresh lubrication and reassembly. The most involved part of this was nothing more than a piston washer. The original had turned to a weird waxy, crumbly mess which smelled suprisingly bad. Spares for these appear non existent so I sized a suitable leather washer. As soon as the action is out of the stock all the pins want to fall out so I just held them temporarily in place with tape whilst working on it. I wanted to keep as much of the original finish as possible as I really wasn’t too bad. Scratches on the stock were carefully touched in, ditto the black painted finish on the action. Unfortunately the outside of the barrel was too scabby to save so it was refinished with a suitable satin black paint.
All in all hardly the most exciting refurb as far as it all went really quite smoothly and it was an enjoyable winters day spent tinkering.
Result is a quirky little French plinker which is seldom seen and certainly deserved to live again 😎

Nice write up Phil, a great asset to the gallery. Thank you. 🙂

Not a biggie, but I think you could add several pics to one post rather than put one pic per post. But whatever you prefer.

Thanks Chris 👍

I do know what you mean, although I’m a big fan of Webley pistols and have worked on a few in the nicest possible way they can dominate these kind of threads and dare I say it get a bit samey. I thought it might be nice to share some of the more humble projects to begin with that no one ever seems to write about.

Thanks Danny and yes no problem I’ll see if I can work out how to do it 👍 I confess that with anything ‘computery’ I tend to be a bit basic and technically clumsy in my approach 🫣

I was going to say that Danny.  Phil you need to get a new camera 😀

I saw the monkey metal piston with the ball bearing on it and it gave me RO 72 flashbacks 😱  I guess the rifle is like a bigger Manuarm pistol?

That rear sight at the back of the cylinder looks interesting, if you could elaborate a bit more on it?

I'm pleased you got the Manuarm rifle and I got that pre war Diana 25 that stripped like a 22.

You are  truly  triple M - the Monkey Metal Man

I am rising above your unnecessary Camera dig 😇

Taking advice from you on Camera’s and photos is like taking advice on world peace from Adolf Hitler 😏

That one really tickled me Danny. 👍 🤣

Phil-- Hitler wanted piece----a piece of Poland, a piece of France,a piece of Russia etc.

I apologise to our European friends. It is British humour, although I think I nicked that line from the original film "The Producers"

You may have a point there 😆 and yes I confess I forget that we now live in a world where perhaps we shouldn’t make some of the jokes we do and likening members of the forum to dictators of the past could be seen to fall it that catagory 😣

Don't worry Phil. I am not going to sue your arse for defamation of character.  I think a judge would probably concede you may have a valid point 😱

I wont even scream "FAKE NEWS" , like another certain world leader. 🙂

It is nice to be able to have a laugh again on a forum without anyone taking too much offence , or heavy handed (some might say ego tripping)  moderation.
