Titan Mk1
Thanks to Malcolm for these pics. He said this on the airgunbbs.com:
I recall ‘playing with’ one of my Dad’s air pistols as a lad in the 1950s, and hung onto it when we cleared his house after his death a few years ago.
Cutting a long story short, trying to de-clutter, I took it, along with a couple of sheath knives, to the Police station, to be destroyed. However, the PC who took it in had an interest in weapons, and thought it looked unusual, so did a bit of investigating, phoning me to say a local dealer had identified it as a Frank Clarke Titan Mk1, a fairly rare air gun.
It does look identical to pictures of that air gun, so it didn’t get crushed!

Titan Mk1 serial no.77
John Griffiths, author of the Encyclopedia of Spring Air Pistols, said of this pistol:
The pistol has serial number 77, which is both new to me and also the lowest yet reported. As is typical of the lower serial numbered guns, the impressed registered design number on the rear of the cylinder is very clear. On later guns the number was always partly unreadable due to wear in the die.
Overall the pistol appears to be in very good condition, but on the downside the cocking knob is not original, and the cocking rod looks to have been shortened, probably to re-thread the end for the replacement knob.
The original thread was an awkward non-standard size.
