I have a 1923 BSA Standard, the rear sight blade snapped and I spent hours with a file getting the replacement to fit, finally managed and discovered that the complete rear sight moves left-right with a slight pressure, I'm considering a dot of studlock or similar, would that work or is there a better way?

Threadlock is good. I've used superglue. Just remember to degrease it thoroughly!
