I would like some one to please clarify a few things. I recently acquired a Lincoln Jefferies Air Rifle. The serial number is L11796 which on some list same it was manufactured from 1906 to 1908. Other articles (on this forum too) disagree with this. There are no Company stampings on the rifle. The serial number, the word "LOAD", and a "L" above that, along with a couple of markings that do not look like rifles, but are in the "A" shape. One in on the stock near the trigger, and the other is near the trigger guard. That is Absolutely the only markings on the gun. I would like to hear the different opinions on when this gun was manufactured and by whom. Thank you, Rod
Rod this is definitely a BSA Light pattern made around 1920. The reason there are no markings other than makers' marks, 'LOAD' and the serial no. is that originally there would have been an etched inscription on the top of the cylinder. If you have a browse around this BSA section of this gallery, there is ample evidence of the above being true. 🙂
Thank you. Once I found the archives, I was able to better understand what I had. Thank you for your help. It is still in original working condition. It's definitely a keeper for me. Rod
