48E Diana?

I recently purchased a Diana air rifle at an online auction and am looking for a positive I.D. of it, model and maybe year. From the postings I've seen here it appears to be a model 48E or maybe a 42. I own several Crosmans but when I saw this rifle listed at auction I just really liked it. Others also liked it as the price just kept going up. After getting the rifle delivered I found two problems with it. The first was that the top half of front site was broken off. So I'm looking for a new or used one. Any advice on where to find one? The second problem was that since the top half was gone some one tried to adjust the site in. They screwed the rear site down as far as it would go then tried to go lower using pliers on it. It was jammed down tight but I was able to free it up but  now adjusting wheel is all buggered up. Does look nice but it works. I'll try to attach photos of rifle but this is my first time here and not sure if I'll be able. The number 319 is stamped into the stock but maybe by owner? The number 465 is stamped under the trigger guard. Any help would be highly appreciated.

if you go to this site and look for Diana you will a wealth of pictures that will tell you this is a later model 48E

now on the subject of parts i looked around but nothing, are there parts maybe but where

i think here would be place to start

Home (proteksupplies.co.uk)

but you chances are not great i'm thinking but who knows

even if the best you could do is find a front sight off a period gun from another manufacture i would take it

or build up the one you have a reshape it to the facort look, at least you have the base

i would take the wheel in to a machinist to clean up a re do the edge, it would be a little small but no one would really know and you have to do what you have to do

if you have deep pockets have the part remade

all i have good luck

High tall is the front site on a Diana 48E from top of barrel to top of site? Mine is broken off and I'll have to weld it up and finish it to correct size. Can site be tapped out of barrel from either direction or is it tapered in the seat?

Thanks,

Tom

i would think it could be drifted out from either side

a brass punch and a little lube sprayed on it should do the trick

you could measure the dovetail to see but i would guess it is straight

take some picture is the before and after i would be interested in how it comes out and it will also be a guide for other to fix the same problem
