I’ve just bought a post-war Diana Model 27 made by Milbro in Scotland. It’s probably 1960s, but is it possible to find out its actual year of manufacture? I’ve tried asking both SMK and M&G but neither wants to know. It’s serial number is 278669.

@marflow Thanks for those links. They made interesting reading, even if they didn't lead to an answer. I had wondered if the serial number ending with a 69 meant the rifle was manufactured in 1969, but those articles showed that theory to be wrong, at least.
I'm surprised that no-one has been stirred to write the definitive history of the Millard Brothers and the post-war Dianas. It's a good, old-fashioned, ripping yarn by any measure. It even has tragedy at the end!

the information might have been written down somewhere but the bridge from written to computers just didn't make it
time is the killer of old facts and i guess someone in the UK would have had to do it
and there is the fact that people of the time didn't think anyone would care 60 years down the road
the info could be out there but this post or others would have to be read by the owner of the info
sorry i could be more help
