Hi,
I've just been trying to work out what thread was used on the 'cam wheel' screws on the model 6 Giss system pistols. The dia measures 13.85 and the thread appears to be .5mm. I've managed to order a new cam wheel screw, at huge expense, from Italy but the thread in the tube body needs cleaning up a little.
Steve.
i grab an extra model 6 tube i have and think it is a m14-14mm and the treads themselves are very fine and maybe as stated 0.5
i do have a thread checker that goes to 14mm but the smallest thread is a 1.25 and that is considered fine
they make m14 x 0.5 taps
Amazon.com: M14 x 0.5 HSS Metric Right hand Thread Tap 14mm: Home Improvement
but have no idea if it correct but it would be my guess
you can get a tap and die on Ebay from China fairly cheap
Marflow,
Thanks for the reply. As I was reading this, the new 'cam wheel' arrived from Italy (less than 2 days!) and it does measure 14mm so my old ones must have worn slightly. So yes, I'm fairly sure that thread is M14 x 0.5mm although that must be very rare.
I may order the tap although this is going to be an expensive restoration!
Thanks
Steve.
Steve i must ask did the cover have a hole in the thread area and i assume you got it OMPS-2
where are you at, in the World, Washington states for me
and why is it turning into an expensive restoration ???
i have done about a half dozen of the model 6's just curious what your journey has been with yours, would be happy to help if i can
i wonder if cleaning up extra fine threads could be a problem, even though it needs to be done, i don't know
in any case take care

Hi Mike,
No, the cover doesn't have the hole in the thread - its a little different to the 'Original' ones. The thread is also very tight in the body tube. Yes OMPS2.
I should have got a pair but the single one cost 41 Euros incl shipping and I've ordered a Chinese tap which is another £20 or so.
A gun shop has one for £70 - I'm beginning to think that I should have bought that for spares instead.
I'm in the UK - I did have relatives in Spokane but no longer

John Knibbs have them listed but are out of stock
the gear pin looks larger in the picture
how the heck did a cap pin get snapped off
and i would get one to match at some time, more money
and also it might of been a good parts gun
some times you can find these cheap on Egun in Germany the auction site and if they will ship them
if you need any help just post, i have rebuilt half a dozen of the 6's and own 9 i think, lost count and some 10's and and and, i'm a hoarder LOL
Well the tap arrived from China and I was able to very carefully clean the threads in the tube. A little fiddly getting it back together but no real problems. The pistol is shooting nicely again!

Well done Steve! 👍
