I saw this at an auction in fairly poor condition and just had to rescue it!

After some refinishing it now shoots extremely well, and is definitely a keeper.

I believe it is fairly old as it has no serial number, and is a bit more unusual than a Diana 50.

Hi, I purchased  an Original 50 today, dated Oct 77 with peep sight.  I am busy dusting it down.  Would the stock be varnished, polished or oiled as standard?

Also on the look out for an original groove rear sight if any one has one for sale.

Off the top of my head, without checking, I think later rifles like this were varnished or maybe lacquered.

eGun.de has sights for auction occasionally.
