Was trying to find more information on these airguns, this forum looked like a good place.
I have an old Diana Model 27 i can't find much info on and was trying to find someone who was an afficionado on these things. My grandfather obtained it cleaning out old houses decades ago. Its beat to hell and has missing screws/parts and quite a bit of surface rust at the moment, but i was interested in getting it restored and learning more about it, even if its not technically 'worth' what it would cost to restore, as long as the cost isnt outrageous.
Its just an old airgun that has sentimental value that at least for me would be worth giving some love to. It still Fires strong, used it for squirrel and bird many years ago, but it got left in a garage for a few years during my younger days and got alot of surface rust, nothing catastrophic though..
Apparently some of these can be pre WW2 which caught also caught my attention.
Any one can identify possible production date? Any recommendations on restorers/refitters in NC? Im not wanting it to look brand new, just someone to clean the rust, shine it up a bit, maybe revarnish the stock, and get the appropriate missing parts replaced. Would look more to having it brought back to full functionality/power.
If someone needs certain demensions/pic of certain areas to make a definite call i can provide those.
The only marks I can find are the Diana stamp on the chamber, there are no serial numbers or markings anywhere else i see.
Just based on those two pics I'm guessing it was made around 1930, give or take a few years. Not sure about your other questions - I'm not in the US.
It should be easy to see the manufacturing date , it is on the barrel just break the gun its visible to the rear of the slot that the cocking arm, level with the screws that holds the barrel ( you might need a magnifying glass . I have 4 pre war Mod 27 one octangle to round made 1923, 2 x 1925s with single screw no locking screws to either the cocking arm or the Barrel/ air chamber screw and a 1930 model with locking screws to both
Why not restore it yourself ?.Your gun looks in good condition certainly against the ones I have when I got them, if you are satisfied with the performance ( do not fire without a pellet ) then I would not bother to much just get some gun oil and put a few drops down the transfer port to lubricate not only the gun but also the leather washer, leave for a few hours. The stock can be made good by sanding down and a quick drying wood stain applied with a rag ( not brush ) for as many coats as you like until desired effect I use mostly antique pine . The metal work on yours seems ok I use a metal cleaner, I use Brasso if then it is not to your liking, you can use brush on cold blueing to get a better finish , I clean between coats with Mentholated Spirit
As for spares What are you looking for ?
I buy these old Diana's both pre war German ones and post war British ones I have about 30 now in my collection, I get a real kick about restoring these old girls back working mostly from rusty wrecks
Can you contact me perhaps?
emails
would just be looking on advice one on one to restore it.
I just might be willing to take on the task to do it myself but would need to source some screws/parts.
I can send pics of the areas missing hardware as necessary.
You might have them or be able to point me in the right direction as to where to get them in the continental US versus international sources.
I had money saved up to put into this but a hot deal on a SAR9 and a Glock 29 baited my budget for the moment.
Thank you so much!
Sent you an email with pictures of areas where the screws are missing.
Ill probably tackle breaking it down, to strip and clean in 2 weeks as im on call this next week for work, and working IT for a Hospital Laboratory means i usually stay busy.
Excellent outcome!
I've removed both your emails from public view to prevent spam. 🙂
I have an old Diana I have inherited trying to find out some information about it is this something you could point me in the right direction?
thanks

Certainly a Mod 27 and I would guess manufactured around 1930, my understanding 1932/34 they had full stocks fitted I have 1 x 1930 model and 2 x 1925 models they only have one screw in each of the cocking arm and the pivot arm at the air chamber/barrel where my 1930 model has a extra captive screw in each but not one on the trigger as your shows, my 1923 model has a octagonal to round barrel
To find the date of manufacture break the gun no need to cock it fully the date is just beyond the slot and below the chamber/barrel pivot screws
Yours appears in fairly good condition but it also appears to have been painted at some time you will need to get that off with a coarse wire wool, and any rust underneath then use a cold bluing I find warming the gun helps then follow instructions as above finishing it all off with true oil, hope it gives you the same satisfaction as I have got restoring mine although now gone up to 53 in my collection going to need a bigger bedroom soon
