As alot of you know like phil I've been searching for a woodgrip junior for many years,I was pleased to see phil finally buy one from an auction and resurrect it,a superb job he did aswell I must say.
Well I am now in possession of 3 lovely woodgrips,I say in possession as I don't own them 😂 but rob (gt550a) drove a couple of hours to drop them off to me today as they all need a little tlc due to the ears snapped off of all 3 pistols,he also bought a few of his collection along to show me including a mint mk1 spring clip (very jealous, especially as its the one I almost bought off guntrader several years ago) but couldn't quite stretch to it at the time.
Anyway back on track I'm going to weld them all up and bring them back to life,we'll that's the theory anyway, and Rob has very kindly offered to donate one to my collection once done.
We thought it would be a good idea to document the process on here and have some before, during and after pics.
As I only got them a few hours ago there's not much to show other than some before pics,I have partially stripped a couple of them to get a better look at the task in hand and decide how to go about it and will update as and when progress is made,it's not going to be a rush job but here's a couple of pics to keep you going.
Thanks Stu 👍
Really looking forward to seeing how these all turn out and the journey getting there 😎👍
I have never had occasion to have to make a repair of this nature.
I look forward to observing your progress and technique.
Nice to meet you yesterday Stu, it turned out to be a seven hour round trip in driving rain,(problems on the way back). Your photo skills are a lot better than mine, or perhaps I need to wear my glasses more. I've never seen the damage that close up, the metal looks like it fractured with no bends in the steel, very odd. I still think these early juniors had a problem, or maybe I'm just unlucky in attracting broken pistols!!! Nice work on day one, no pressure though, take as long as you need.
