With thanks to John Griffiths author of the Encyclopedia of Spring Air Pistols. He says:
Robert Beeman told me that just after the War, Weihrauch sent this particular pistol (to be called the HWZ LP1) to Steve Laszlo at Hy-Score in the USA for evaluation. For some unknown reason the pistol never went into full-scale production. Perhaps it was felt that it would not fare very well on the American market because of competition from the Hy-Score pistol. Steve Laszlo later gifted the pistol to Beeman for his collection. It appears to be the only one that survives today.
The Stanley's Aero-Para, which was the forerunner of the HWZ LP1, was made by Stanley Waffen GmbH in Berlin in about 1936-1938, and it was taken over by Weihrauch. I have never seen an actual example of the Aero-Para, but it was definitely produced, as it was advertised in a 1936 catalogue, and a brochure / manual for it is known.
