Crosman Model-760.
Crosman Model-760 (earliest wood stock)
With thanks to Bob Holtz, who worked at Crosman from February 1956 to January 1995.
He says:
Two early Model 760s no doubt assembled for sales to hand out to potential buyers. The top one being white chrome plated with American Elm production stock and forearm and the bottom one black chrome plated with walnut stock and forearm. The stock, as designed and in the earliest production rifles, attached to the receiver via a mortice in the stock and a tenon cast in the receiver. Due to the stocks fracturing in the sharp corners of the stock mortice the design was changed by eliminating the stock mortice and adding a tenon. A mortice replaced the tenon in the receiver. Problem solved! If you have an all wood stocked 760 you will know by looking where the stock attaches to the casting if it is the earliest or not. (See last photo below)
Crosman Model-760 20th Anniversary Commemorative model (gold)
With thanks to Steve. He says:
An interesting Crosman 760 that I'd never seen before. Serial# 385000120 which dates it to March 1985.
This is not the standard 20th Anniversary 760 Edition, which is black. The nameplate on the receiver is also simply engraved with "760 Commemorative" on those.
The following is a description from the BlueBook regarding a variation of the 20th Year Commemorative: "Special presentation commemorative. Special order by Crosman sales rep for key buyers and senior staff."
I believe this gun may be that variant.
No box or paperwork, but it came with a bright red Crosman soft case.
